Turning 40 turned out to be a lot less dreadful than I expected—mostly because D spoiled me rotten.
First, he gave me a Paris guide book and a couple of plane tickets. I snapped this photo of l'Arc de Triumphe with my iPhone as we walked from the bus stop to the subway right after we arrived in Paris last Saturday. I have another few hundred photos from the big girl camera still to process and post. Check back soon for the highlights.
This evening, he brought my "real" present home.
That, my friends, is a cherry 30-inch Schacht-Reeves Saxony wheel, single treadle, right mounted flyer wheel. It's beautiful and fast--even at 18:1. It should make production spinning during the Tour de Fleece fun and easy.
More soon. Now I need to to pack for a this week's business trip to the steamy south (Naples, FL, tomorrow through Thursday).
Awesome!! Sounds like you got some well-deserved royal treatment. Can't wait to hear more about the Paris trip, and the spinning wheel is beautiful!!
Happy Birthday :)

A birthday that will be remembered with a huge smile! I hope the wheel gives you many years of pleasurable spinning.
ps - I can assure you that the years that follow will be challenging but fun!
